SUPPORT/REPRESENTATION

The NEU is always on hand to support its members, no matter how small or large an issue might be.

School based Reps (Types 1 & 2 casework)
At the heart of the union are our school based Reps. We would always recommend that you speak to your workplace Rep in the first instance of any issue. If there is no Rep at your school, then please contact the City of Leicester Office.
If you are considering becoming a rep, visit the NEU's Rep webpage. The NEU offers comprehensive training to all Reps and ensure that they are released, with full pay, to enrol on these courses.

Local Officers (Types 1, 2 & 3 Casework)
The City of Leicester Office is comprised of serving teachers, with a wealth of educational experience across all forms of education. The office provides advice to all members who are in the City of Leicester District. Officers are released from their schools on a weekly basis, which is enabled through a local "Facilities Time" pool. All Leicester City Council schools subscribe to this pool, as well as selected academies. Local officers can only carry out casework and representation in those schools which buy into the Facilities Time arrangements. Please check the Leicester Schools section to see if your school subscribes to this service.

Lead Reps (Types 1 & 2 Casework)
Academies who do not buy into the Facilities Time arrangements, have a duty to ensure they have a suitable alternative model, whereby a Lead Rep is guaranteed weekly release time. Please check the Leicester School section for further information.

Regional Support (Types 2 & 3 Casework)
The East Midlands Office provide expert advice to the local office as well as individual support for complex, legal cases (please see casework type document for further information). In the event of not having a school based Rep, or your employer not buying into the local Facilities Time arrangements or having a Lead Rep model, then contact the regional office for representation requests.
